Let me be your prophet

--> What we live today is the fast degradation of both natural and human-built environment. Human race reached a point in which, we all seem to agree, it can destroy its own habitat and thus commit suicide. And it seems quite inclined to do so. If we look back at the history of humankind, we realize that “humanity” is an over-rated notion: we humans have always suffered from the illusion that our race is the one which gives meaning to the word “life”. We learn at school how man tamed the other animals and the natural forces, how he is capable to rearrange the biophysical landscape for his own needs and survival, or how he deciphers the mysteries of the universe. We conquer the Space and we publish “Time”. The history of politics has been maybe the best environment for this illusion: at the beginning there were the kings and priests. They and only they among all humans (and among, of course, all beings) represented gods, the ultimate principles of life on Earth and in the...

Norwegian terrorism and politically correctness

I've heard so many discourses already about the massacre in Norway, on facebook, on the street, in the forums. And I noticed a pattern: most of them discuss multiculturalism, Marxism and Muslims, while precising that, of course, the crime is unacceptable. People briefly condemn the killer (or simply the crime), but then they analyze arduously the catastrophic situation in which the Western civilization finds itself. I read in the newspaper that the killer will soon keep a discourse in which he will explain his reasons. In general, media offer generous spaces to his manifestos, projects, ideas. One could definitely conclude that the killer reached his goal. He didn't kill himself, so he knew that he would be imprisoned, and that all his life and “philosophy” would be made public. And, as he explained it, it was his way to sound the alarm for a vital problem of the Western world. So his goal was to make public his ideas and messages and that they are publicly discussed. I be...

comemorare

dupa 20 de ani banda de infractori promovata de criminalul ion iliescu inca detine majoritatea locurilor in parlament, majoritatea functiilor in executiv, majoritatea posturilor din administratiile centrala si locale, majoritatea scenei politice si a fondurilor destinate partidelor, majoritatea economiei romanesti, majoritatea vilelor din cartierele cele mai frumoase din orasul meu Bucuresti, majoritatea terenurilor arabile, majoritatea aparitiilor in mass media care in majoritate sint ale lor si, nu in ultimul rind, majoritatea voturilor. intre timp majoritatea cetatenilor romani inca traiesc in blocuri comuniste sau case saracacioase in sate uitate de lume unde mare parte din terenuri au fost confiscate de banda de infractori, lucreaza pentru banda de infractori, platesc impozite bandei de infractori, privesc la televizor banda de infractori, sint platiti de banda de infractori cu indejuns de putini bani cit sa nu-si depaseasca conditia, voteaza banda de infractori. Cubism's not dead - by Annelie Hedin

Berlin, John Holten

We speak to you in one language and to you in another, we do not wish to give ourselves away or limit ourselves, we are open and ready to confuse because we are not at home, because yes we are homeless, because we do not know each other, because we contain multitudes and our hatreds define us more than our loves. We are three, maybe four people and do not stop to think that you know any one of us better then another, or that even your slight acquaintance with one of us blocks out the others, we are unknowable in our infinities like the sounds of an orchestra going out of tune or brave men dying slowly in fear. We have no voice, we have no accent, we come from nowhere and have no centre, we are unknowable and shapeshifting with one face for you and one for anyother because we wish to please ourselves by deceit and falsehood and the changing of our failing identity. We pass the nights in fire with each other like dancers gone wild to the music of their ancestors enhanced through th...

o idee pt viitor

"Adevaratul dialog este sa te sprijini pe argumentele interlocutorului, nu sa le demolezi" - baronul Edward George Bulwer Lytton (are numele cit un citat:)) (daca gasiti varianta originala in engleza, please send it to me, eu am tradus o varianta in franceza)

movie blending

I think cinematographic creation in digital era is infinite? think again: if I multiply the number of pixels on a screen with the number of colors it supports and with the number of frames in 1h 1/2 I will get a big number, true, but a FINITE one. and then great part of the resulting combinations are just abstract art, and another (smaller) part are movies already done. does that mean that there aren't so many movies left to be done in the digital era? anyhow, an important advantage of such a random movie making is that one needs no real actors, no real set, no real locations. just a damn fast machine. who wants to create the first frame ex-nihilo ?

dificultati de exprimare in cartier

dupa generic - 2

oare ce se intimpla cu personajele dupa genericul filmului? ramin pe veci asa cum le descrie scena finala? eu nu cred. spre exemplu, the pursuit of happyness chris a reusit in sfirsit sa obtina jobul mult visat, sta intr-un cartier "curat", e in sfirsit relaxat si fericit alaturi de fiul sau, caruia poate sa-i ofere tot ce-si doreste. aceasta fericire atit de mult asteptata nu este insa hazard-proof. la nici 3 luni de la angajare, firma intra intr-o criza financiara grava, din cauza unor speculatii la bursa extrem de riscante si a unui trend global nefavorabil. chris munceste enrom, asa cum l-am vazut, stie ca i s-a oferit o sansa incredibila cind aproape se scufundase, deci face tot ce-i sta in putinta sa-si consolideze rapid pozitia in firma. atita doar ca bunele intentii nu fac parte dintre principiile lumii speculatiilor financiare. chris reusteste sa incheie destule contracte, insa mai toate cu actori economici destul de neinsemnati, prin urmare veniturile rezultate ...

Tarantino appears in "Inglorious Bastards"

I've just seen the movie for the second time and noticed that Tarantino appears in a scene as one of the 300 Russian soldiers killed by the German hero. Right after the hero himself gets shot by the projectionnist. I guess I noticed it because Tarantino looks so much like the famous Roger Federer..:P

masina, prietena cea mai buna a omului

si ca tot sint la capitolul asta, cred ca o lume in care masinile ne-ar asista in toate necesitatile biologice ar putea fi, contrar parerilor cvasi-unanime, paradisiaca. cu conditia ca fiecare sa aiba in posesie respectivele masini. I mean, daca as avea o masina personala care sa cultive si culeaga singura de-ale gurii, alta care sa le prepare, alta care sa ma duca departe fara sa calce pelicanii pe drum, alta care sa ma puna in contact cu ceilalti la distanta fara sa-mi cada cablurile cu radiatii in cap, plus una care sa munceasca in locul meu la serviciu; chiar credeti ca as muri de sedentarism si plictiseala? as putea, daca as fi lipsit de imaginatie. insa nu mi-ar fi de-ajuns 1000 de vieti ca sa citesc toate cartile pe care as vrea sa le citesc, sa practic toate sporturile pe care as vrea sa le practic, sa-mi dezvolt toate talentele artistice si sa descopar sau sa-mi fortez altele noi, sa merg la toate teatrele la care n-am bani si timp sa merg, sa ma asociez cu toti oamenii cu c...

man vs. machine/woman/man...

Chomsky on Capitalist State Intervention

"[T]he principle of really existing free market theory is: free markets are fine for you, but not for me. That's, again, near a universal. So you -- whoever you may be -- you have to learn responsibility, and be subjected to market discipline, it's good for your character, it's tough love.... But me, I need the nanny State, to protect me from market discipline, so that I'll be able to rant and rave about the marvels of the free market, while I'm getting properly subsidized and defended by everyone else, through the nanny State. And also, this has to be risk-free. So I'm perfectly willing to make profits, but I don't want to take risks. If anything goes wrong, you bail me out. So, if Third World debt gets out of control, you socialize it. It's not the problem of the banks that made the money. When the S&Ls collapse, you know, same thing. The public bails them out. When American investment firms get into trouble because the Mexican bubble bursts, ...
